Prestigio Multipad 9.7″ Android Tablet Priced at Just $260

As 2012 progresses on, it seems that the price of full-featured Android tablets is only going to decrease.  For those looking for a large, iPad-comparable Android tablet, the Prestigio Multipad 9.7 inch tablet might just be a good option.

Set to be released sometime in April 2012, the Prestigio Multipad Android tablet is attractively priced at $260–which makes it half the price of the cheapest iPad. Even better is the fact that the Multipad will be coming with the brand new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

Although the Multipad Android tablet certainly isn’t as powerful as some of the more expensive Android tablets, it does come with some pretty decent specs considering the cheap price. A 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor and 1 GB DDR3 RAM are included, which means Prestigio Multipad should be able to handle browsing and most games with ease.

Those who were hoping for a rear camera will be disappointed, as the Prestigio Multipad Android tablet only comes with a 0.3 MP front camera (which is the same amount of megapixels as the front camera in the new iPad). Also included is 8 GB of Flash memory with the capability of supporting up to a 32 GB microSD card. The MultiPad will also come with LED backlighting for the screen, so tablet users who want to use the Prestigio Multipad in poorly lit areas should have no problems.

Also included in the Prestigio Multipad is a 600 mAH battery, wireless LAN adapter, and both mini USB and HDMI out ports. No word yet on what markets the Prestigio Multipad Android tablet will be available to initially, though we expect a North American release isn’t too far away.
