If AppleInsider is correct with their predictions, we might be seeing the next-generation iPhone in a waterproof form because of the integration of a technology developed by HzO.

On display during this year’s Consumer Electronics Show was the “WaterBlock” technology from HzO, and they reported that both Apple and Samsung were interested in using its materials in future generation devices.

In fact, the technology is not a new one, as HzO readily admits on its website. They say that methods for the formation of vacuum deposition application began more than 50 years ago, and have developed into several forms for various functions. However, the company have devised a novel chemical formulation, application process, and masking technique, which, when combined, produce a superior product capable of blocking water, moisture, and small debris from electronic devices.

According to HzO, its WaterBlock technology is capable of protecting the molecules on the inside of a treated device, and they go on to say that the formula is a nontoxic, organic material, which is safe for people to use and does not add any extra weight or change the aesthetics of the treated device.

During this year’s CES, the manufacturers demonstrated the feasibility of their formula by placing several devices, such as iPods, iPhones, and iPads, into water. There was ample proof that the devices function properly even when underwater,  however, the company were not able to guarantee the same protection over a prolonged period. HzO went on to emphasize that the design of technology offers protection during a torrential rainstorm, or when you leave your smart phone in your pants when they go through the wash.
